Our History

Middle Georgia Youth Ballet was founded in October 1996. Its mission is to provide education in dance through lecture / demonstrations in Middle Georgia schools as well as to provide an outlet for dance presentation and audience response for young dancers in our community. Mission

Middle Georgia Youth Ballet was founded in 1996 with the belief that dance education builds a foundation of a lifetime appreciation of dance and other arts. A primary focus of the organization is to introduce school children to classical dance through lecture/demonstrations. Since our inception, we have presented a wide ranging repertoire of dance demonstrations and informational commentary to over 30 schools. We also purpose to provide our members with training and performance opportunities outside of their regular dance education. We offer master classes in addition to regular company classes and present an annual public performance that provides an outlet for dance presentation and audience response for our members

Middle Georgia Youth Ballet will once again present a Spring Production.  Details are being finalized and will be announced at a later date.

Auditions

Company members, apprentices and trainees are selected through an annual audition process.  All area dance students are eligible to audition; however, they must be at least 12 years of age and take a minimum of three academic dance classes each week at their respective studios. Girls must demonstrate proficiency en pointe. The company season runs from August through April with company classes held on Friday afternoon from 4-6 pm and weekend rehearsals for scheduled productions. Auditions for the 2008-2009 season were held April 18 2008 at Dance Arts Studio. Auditions for the 2009-2010 season will be held in Spring 2009.
